Why Stores Struggle

Common Ecommerce SEO Problems I Fix

Ecommerce seo consultant

A lot of online stores grow on Facebook and Instagram ads and then hit a wall when ad costs rise. Search traffic is the obvious next channel, but store websites have problems that ordinary business sites don’t.

  • Thin product pages: a photo, a price and one line copied from the supplier. Google has no reason to rank that over the hundred other stores using the same text.
  • Category pages with no content: categories are usually the pages that can rank for valuable searches like “men’s leather wallet with card holder”, yet most are just product grids.
  • Filter and sort URLs: colour, size and price filters can create thousands of near-duplicate URLs that waste Google’s crawl budget.
  • Out-of-stock and deleted products: these often turn into 404 errors or empty pages instead of being redirected or kept useful.
  • Slow mobile pages: heavy sliders, uncompressed images and too many apps slow everything down.
  • Missing product schema: without Product, Offer and Review markup, you miss price and rating details in search results.

The Process

How I Grow Organic Sales for Online Stores

Keyword and category mapping

I research how people actually search for your products, including brand names, product types, sizes, uses and price phrases like “under $50”. Each group of searches is mapped to one category or product page so your pages don’t compete with each other.

Category page optimization

I write short, useful buying guidance for key categories, fix titles and headings, and add internal links between related categories. This is usually where the quickest wins are.

Product page templates

Instead of rewriting thousands of products by hand, I improve the template: title formulas, structured specification tables, FAQ blocks and schema. Then we rewrite the best sellers properly first.

Technical clean-up

I control which filter URLs get indexed, fix redirects for discontinued products, and speed up the mobile experience. The details are covered on my technical SEO page.

Measuring revenue, not just traffic

I connect Search Console and analytics so you can see which pages bring orders, not only visits. Google’s own ecommerce SEO documentation is a good reference if you’d like to read further.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

An ecommerce SEO consultant improves how an online store’s category and product pages rank on Google. The work covers keyword mapping, page content, site structure, product schema, crawl control and page speed.

Yes, if you sell products people search for. Organic traffic keeps coming without paying per click, which lowers your cost per order as the store grows.

Yes. Most of my ecommerce work is on WooCommerce and Shopify, and I also work with custom-built stores alongside the developer.

I start with templates and the best-selling products. Fixing the template improves every product page at once, then the highest-value pages get hand-written content.

Category improvements can start showing results in two to three months. Larger gains usually build over six to twelve months, depending on competition.
